Moving Past “How Was Church"?”

A Note from Keirstin:
TNB is more than just the night before. It is a full family discipleship rhythm.

  • Saturday Preparation

  • Sunday Morning Worship

  • Sunday Afternoon Recap

  • Monday-Friday Practice

Then… back to Saturday preparation.

Let’s chat about the importance of the Sunday afternoon recap.

The goal to recapping worship Sunday after church is to help our children process, remember, and respond to what they experienced on Sunday. What happens after church can be just as important as what happens during church.

When we get in the car, cozy up on the couch, or sit around the table on Sunday afternoon, we are able to go deeper with our children, clear up anything confusing, and hear what the Lord is doing in their heart.

It is important to remember to make these moments naturally fit into your rhythms. Their answers to questions like “how can you change because of what you heard,” will help you continue the conversation all week long and guide how you Intentionally disciple them all week long.

Let’s make Sunday morning a Saturday night decision together.

Weekly Challenge

While the kids are packing, make sure that they have a journal and something to write with. Remind them how important it is to listen with intent to learn.

Consider giving them key words to listen for and ideas of what they could draw. Taking notes and drawing pictures will help guide the conversation for your after worship conversation.

Family Conversation Starter

What made you laugh today?

One simple question can lead to deeper conversation.

Scripture for the Week

Start a youth out on his way; even when he grows old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

Intentional conversations today shape a lifelong foundation for your children.

A Prayer for Your Family

Lord, thank You for the blessing of the ability to worship freely and openly talk about Your way. Help us guide and direct our conversations in our homes to point our children closer to You. Let us not miss simple moments to disciple our children. Amen.
